Founding and Early Years (1985-2005):

APAPER Primary School, located in Kigali, Rwanda, was established in 1985 with a vision to provide quality education to the young minds of the community. The school’s name, “APAPER,” stands for “Association des Parents pour la Promotion de l'Education au Rwanda” It was founded by a group of dedicated educators and community members (parents) who recognized the importance of education in shaping the future of the nation.

In its early years, APAPER Primary School started with a modest number of students and a handful of teachers who were passionate about imparting knowledge and values to the students. The school focused on creating a nurturing environment that encouraged holistic development, not just academic excellence.

Growth and Expansion (2006-2016):

As the years went by, APAPER Primary School gained recognition for its commitment to quality education and holistic development. The school’s reputation attracted more students from the local community and beyond. With the growing student population, the school’s facilities were expanded to accommodate the increasing demand. New classrooms, a library, and playgrounds were added to create a conducive learning environment.

During this period, the school also initiated various extracurricular activities, such as stem, Abacus, Coding, Taekwondo (Sport), Robotics, traditional dances, sports, arts, and other cultural events, to foster creativity, teamwork, and a sense of pride among the students. These activities played a crucial role in shaping students into well-rounded individuals.

Embracing Technology and Innovation (2022):

In the late 2010s, APAPER Primary School recognized the importance of integrating technology into education. The school equipped its classrooms with modern teaching aids and computers, ensuring that students were prepared for the digital age. This step not only enhanced the learning experience but also empowered both students and teachers with valuable skills.

Furthermore, the school continued to strengthen its ties with the local community. Initiatives such as community service projects, environmental awareness campaigns, and partnerships with local organizations showcased APAPER Primary School’s commitment to creating responsible citizens who contribute positively to society.

Navigating Challenges (2021-2023):

The early 2020s brought unprecedented challenges in the form of the global COVID-19 pandemic. APAPER Primary School, like many educational institutions around the world, had to quickly adapt to remote and hybrid learning models to ensure the safety of its students and staff. Through innovative online teaching methods and continuous support to students and parents, the school managed to uphold its commitment to education even in the face of adversity.
